Form-finding of a 40m x 21m membrane roof using the Natural Force Density Method and analysis performed in ANSYS including steel elements to observe the deformations of the global structure. The results from ANSYS from a wind analysis were imported into RFEM using a computational design approach where the membrane mesh boundary node was matched with the FE mesh from the steel structure, so that membrane forces correspond to the steel truss loads. This was carried out to verify each steel member according to requirements established by code.
Detail design of connections were checked in special regards to the supports. The lateral steel truss that supports the main truss takes bending moments so that it exists only compression and tension at the connection with the existing prefabricated concrete structure.
